Kevin Durant’s free agency is less than a week away. It will all start on Friday, July 1st. When Durant does begin his free agency reports are saying that he will meet with all teams at his LA home. The teams he is set to meet with first? The best three teams in the Western Conference.
Durant will, of course, meet with OKC, then he will also meet with the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs. Durant has made it clear that when he is picking his destination this offseason it will be all about basketball and what each team brings on the court. Durant gets plenty of money from his endorsement deals with Nike, Sonic, and others so his biggest focus is getting his first title.
The Thunder have quite a bit to talk about with Kevin Durant after the big trade, though some believe Presti already discussed it with Durant. The Thunder went from having Serge Ibaka since 2008 to now having Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, and Ersan Ilyasova. OKC got a haul in the trade to say the least, but where does it all leave them now? That is what Sam Presti will have to talk to Durant about. Presti has proven to Durant that the team is willing to make moves and they will do whatever it takes to win.
Dream OKC scenario: KD leads Warriors deep into process, returns after GSW loses key assets
Nightmare OKC scenario: He leaves for Warriors

Thunder beat writer Anthony Slater does have an interesting point here. This offseason Durant can find a way to destroy the Warriors and Spurs from the inside. He can take long enough and mess around with them so that it can ruin the rest of their free agency. Look at what DeAndre Jordan did to the Dallas Mavericks last season for an example (even though what he did was crappy).
One major factor is that Adrian Wojnarowki of Yahoo Sport’s The Vertical is reporting that Durant will be going overseas on July 9th so his decision is most likely to be made before that time. Durant will have eight days to figure out where he is going to go and what each team is going to give him. One thing that he should see for certain is that the Thunder have committed to him and will build around him in every way he wants. Durant has a major decision on his hands, but OKC looks like the most logical choice.
