The Thunder look like they are back to showing their ultimate strength. OKC came out for game three after a terrible ending to game two and showed that they are who we thought they were, and more. The Thunder ended up winning the game 131-102 with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook sitting out the final few minutes of the game.
Durant would go off for 34 points and seven rebounds on 11-of-25 shooting after his poor showing in game two. Westbrook would add another 26 points and 15 assists. The assists were huge for OKC in this one. The Thunder only had 11 total assists last game and Westbrook was able to get that many all by himself. This offense was firing on all cylinder.
The game was not without some drama. Early in the third quarter Raymond Felton took a shot at Steven Adams, punching Adams right in the chest. This was nothing for Adams. The Thunder center is use to getting under players’ skin and Felton is a good 11 inches shorter than him. This “fight” would give a spark to the Mavericks and their crowd. Dallas went on a 10-0 run after it but then it was shut down after Russell Westbrook got on fire with some big three pointers.
One surprising part of this game was the play of Enes Kanter and Dion Waiters. When those two guys are playing at their top game the Thunder look like they are unstoppable. Kanter had 21 points and eight rebounds while Waiters had 19 points and four rebounds. The two combined for 13-of-18 shooting.
Not to be forgotten, Serge Ibaka had 16 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and went 7-of-9 for the game. Ibaka has been playing great in all three of the playoff games so far. If Ibaka can get back to his old self then the Thunder look like the team with the best Big 3 in the NBA.
All fingers crossed that the Thunder can continue this great play and finish off the Mavericks quickly. At this level of play the Thunder will pose quite a challenge for both the Spurs and the Warriors going on into the playoffs.
